Chapter 14. The Engagement

Nathan’s POV

It was no news that Evelyn Miller, the only daughter of Alpha Sebastian and heir to the Nightshade Pack, was getting engaged today.

Everyone had heard about it. The entire pack was buzzing with excitement.

Invitations had been sent far and wide, and people were eager to attend — who wouldn’t want to witness such a grand event?

Everyone, except me.

I sat alone in my room, staring at the invitation in my hand.

I must’ve read it a hundred times, and yet I couldn’t bring myself to let it go.

The words blurred before my eyes, as my mind just kept on spinning with thoughts of her.

She was getting married today.

But not to me.

The pain in my chest wouldn’t ease, no matter how hard I tried.

I stared at the invitation again, my thumb tracing her name.

Evelyn. My Evelyn.

Even after all these years, she never left my thoughts. She haunted my dreams, my waking moments, every breath I took.
