Chapter 52. Follow Them

Evelyn’s POV

I didn’t understand what was happening. Just as I was about to suggest Nathan rest for a bit, my father ended the dinner abruptly and ordered a maid to escort him to one of our finest rooms.

My mind was struck. Why? Why would he do that? There was something going on here, something he wasn’t telling me.

“No, no… Alpha Sebastian Miller, that’s too much already,” Nathan protested.

His body was still slumped in his chair like a man who’d had far too much to drink even if I clearly saw he didn’t drink much at all.

My father leaned forward, calmly. “No, no… you can’t leave like this, Nathan. You could barely finish your meal. You need to rest first. Perhaps you’ve had too much to drink, or maybe it’s been a rough day. Don’t worry, you’ll be taken care of.”

I turned to look at him, unable to hide the confusion on my face. He was my father, but this… this was unlike him.
