Claire’s POV

The next day, as I watched the sunrise in the backyard, I received a call from Caleb. I suddenly got nervous—did something happen back home? I hoped not.

“Hello?” I said nervously. I heard a sigh on the other side of the line.

“Are you okay, Caleb? What happened?”

“Did I wake you up? I’m sorry it’s too early to call you and for interrupting your vacation, but I think you need to go home, Claire. I understand that you’re really upset and need some peace of mind, but I need you here with us,” my brother said sadly.

“I will go home, Caleb. But please tell me what happened,” I said, trying to calm myself.

“Dad’s in the hospital, Claire. He needs you,” he said.

“What happened to him? Is he stable?” I asked, panicking.

“Relax, Claire. You need to breathe. Dad had a heart attack, but he’s fine already. He’s stable, and he’s in the hospital but still inside the ICU. The doctor is still monitoring him,” he said, and tears st
