Chapter 90. Cautious
Willow waited anxiously in Zoey’s room. So scared, Willow decided to sleep with her daughter. But she couldn’t close her eyes. Even after midnight, there was no sign that the Goodwinson and Paramore packs had arrived at Veronica’s house.
There were only a few guards patrolling outside. They seemed tense, waiting for news.
The patrolling guards rushed forward one by one, and Willow suspected that Max and the others had already returned to Cottonhill. Quickly grabbing her kimono robe, Willow was about to leave Zoey’s room.
“Oh my, Max!” Willow exclaimed as she opened the door to find Max standing on the threshold.
“Sorry.” Max just smiled. “I was just about to knock.”
Willow immediately threw her arms around Max, feeling the worry that had been hanging over her dissipate. Max was fine, that was all Willow needed to know.
“Let’s talk in the room. Zoey’s asleep and I don’t want to wake her,” Willow whispered.
