Chapter 92. Max’s Plea

Shawn’s car, almost at the town border, stopped immediately when he saw Max waiting on the side of the road. Max appeared to have just arrived and was visibly out of breath. Shawn got out and approached Max.

“Mr. Max,” Shawn greeted him.

“Can you contact Kyler Messer?” Max suddenly asked.

“I-I…”

“I know you’re still in touch with him, and please do, because it really is an emergency, Detective.”

Shawn knew that Max couldn’t betray him. Max cared deeply about Willow and Zoey and was even willing to defy his mother. However, Shawn didn’t know what the ramifications of helping Max would be.

“What can I do, Mr. Max?”

“Ask Kyler to pick up Willow and Zoey at the edge of Cottonhill Forest in two nights. I’ll bring them to Kyler so he can take care of them. Kyler, I mean.”
