I felt the urge to breathe fresh air that wasn’t in that gloomy dungeon that suffocated me. I went out, followed by Lion, the guard who was always assigned to me, and reached one of the balconies overlooking the garden.
I looked out to try to breathe and sat down to rest. There were very strong emotions; Jason’s expression was almost traumatizing. Lion didn’t say much either; he was still stunned by the change in the castle librarian. It was a grotesque transformation; I could still see him in the library begging for help, about to venture out on his first mission as an explorer.
“Do you think he was always like that? And that he was just hiding to blend in?” he asked, staring up at the clear sky. The icy wind felt much more intense there, but at least I could breathe easier.
“I don’t know,” I answered and shrugged my shoulders. “I can’t believe it. I didn’t see it in him.”
