I looked at her, full of worry; she was so scared that tears were running from her eyes. There was something wrong with her; there were certain things in her personality that I was not quite comfortable with.

“To what do you owe your presence here?” Jacob asked without any politeness; he was cold as a grave. You would not soften him with pleasantries or formalities; the king was not that kind of person; on the contrary, that kind of thing annoyed him.
