I decided to approach him so that he could forgive me. I did not know exactly what I had done or what he knew.
Jacob did not have expressive eyes, but he had never looked at me with such coldness. He stopped looking at me, turned his gaze to the hallway, and walked away, ignoring me.
“Where are you going?” I asked, searching for him with my eyes, hoping he would stop and talk.
“I have to do my work,” he answered dryly, without turning around, and continued on his way.
I remained sitting on the benches so as not to collapse or risk fainting. He had not left me alone; Lion had come immediately to help me; it was certainly Jacob’s order. He would not leave me unprotected, no matter how angry he was.
“Did he say something to you?” I wanted to know, hoping it was not as serious as I thought.
