Chapter 138. Terrible Fate

Jacob was still walking, elegantly holding my arm, the people around us rejoicing at the decisions that had been made. For me, the time of the hearing was practically an eternity, even though hundreds of things had happened in those hours.
The guards took away Sallie, who had to be sedated with painkillers because of her aggressive and violent behavior. She even bit two of the men who tried to restrain her and kicked anyone who crossed her path. She’d probably blame us for her capture; my goodness, that was so crazy we still didn’t get it.
Cadde intercepted us for dinner together before he left in the morning. He’d be attending the big party; he was invited, and there was only a little time left. The countdown was already running out. We agreed to have dinner together as an excuse; the man could still be angry about all the misunderstandings we welcomed in our castle.
“Thanks for coming,” I said to Cadde and smiled. He smiled back and nodded politely.
