Chapter 156. One Last Hope

I was left leaning against the wall with my heart pounding and my forehead drenched in sweat; I was afraid, so much so that I began to tremble. This man was offering to break my principles in exchange for my possible death. Why would he, of all people, have the damn cure for Chris’s disease? If only Larry had cut the rope sooner, everything would have been fine without much trouble.
The loneliness in that corner made me shiver. My main question was why they needed the Queen’s crown, what they could get out of it. It didn’t make sense to me, but I suspected they’d try to use it for some kind of ritual. We had figured out that their main goal was to resurrect their leader, Zack, and for that, they needed his brother. To me, that was the surest of all we had heard, and now more unknowns were coming our way. I couldn’t share this knowledge with anyone; if I opened my mouth, I’d also be condemning myself to a fatal fate.
