“Your Highness, I have come here to tell you that our house is loyal to the Crown and to you, for the king is the man who faced death and came out alive from the House of Terror.” He must have been about fifty years old, and his head was all gray. He was of medium height and tall stature. “We recognize the nobility of the queen to whom we owe the safety of the market.” He made a polite bow.
“I hear your request.” He was not very nice, but at least he did not have his usual threatening tone and was just serious, with a frown on his face.
“Thank you very much.” He tilted his head again. “We have a problem, one that no one wanted to hear. We complained to the guard, and they turned a deaf ear after the third complaint; it cannot go on like this. Our house was robbed not once but five times this week.” The man got louder when he told about his experience. “We are not the only ones; the same thing has happened to all our neighbors.”
