Gianna had left this world with a promise I had not kept, her blood staining my hands at that moment when I tried to help her without accomplishing anything. I looked up and saw the guy.
“It’s good that you laugh, because it will be the last time you do that,” I explained and stood up. The guy had killed her from behind, like a coward.
“Oh, do not threaten me, start a fight over a prostitute?” The man looked at me in disbelief as he drew his sword, brandished it, and pointed it at me. “I heard that you were after me.”
“Are you the thief?” I asked suspiciously, alerting my guard.
“If you prefer to call me that, that’s fine,” he said in a slurred tone, as if he was having a hard time speaking.
“I expected something better, to tell the truth,” I replied with disdain. “You look like a normal person.”
