Chapter 162. Hesitation

Chris was breathing again; his lungs were visibly improving, and he was completely out of danger. The doctors assured him that he would only get better from now on, the worst was over, and it was time to breathe in peace. I stayed by his side and watched as his face returned to a healthier color. The doctor told me about his recovery treatment and approximately how long it would take for him to recover. According to his diagnosis, he would wake up in a little less than a week and be able to walk after two weeks. This was all good news. I took his hand and shook it in mine after asking the doctor to leave us alone. The doctor walked out the front door. We were in Chris’s private room and no longer needed to be in the hospital room.
I was glad to leave this place that brought back bad memories, all the moments when I had to hope my friends would be saved too.
I recognized his silhouette there; it was unmistakable to me.
