“You haven’t won yet. You have to go back to being queen. Miracles do happen, and we have received so many.” She said, this time with a smile. “We must try.”

Carmen had that faith that only those who love have. I had that hope too, although sometimes it seemed to fade. And now it was as if everything had the opposite effect. Every time someone encouraged me, I felt less able to win.

After hearing his words, I felt that I would not make it. Because everything depended on us winning. Time was short, the decision had to be made before they attacked us first. If we defended our position in Cadde Castle, we would run much less risk than if we left. Carmen left; she too was nervous. She paced back and forth quickly; her eyes full of anxiety. No one knew what would happen.

Suddenly, the glass table that held my hair comb broke into a thousand pieces. That gave me the worst of feelings and as I ran over to see what broke it, the change terrified me even more.
