He had left me alone, all alone, with my eyes wide open in disbelief. I could not even see the faces of my children to feel accompanied. It was a pain that only loneliness could give. Having that empty room seemed like the most brutal of tortures.
I thought we had been through several battles, but none were like this one. His look told me that he no longer spoke to me in the same tone, that the connection between us was fading.
The tears dried on my face and I saw something in the mirror that chilled my bones. My eyes were completely red and it was there. With his arms around my neck, about to strangle me, Zack began to smile in that reflection.
He was nothing like Jacob.
“Help!” I tried to scream, but my scream was silenced in the air, in the mirror, Zack still had power over my neck and squeezed, causing me to fall to the ground.
Blood started spurting out of my mouth, making me faint for a few seconds, and I got up just in time to stop him
