My room in the castle also had the stench of the explosives we used during Jacob’s siege, the day he came to get his son. Fortunately, my incense and roses lightened the smell and mixed it with a pleasant one. I woke up quite energetic, having slept many hours, if I am not mistaken more than nine hours without interruption. I was relaxed.
“To tell you the truth Fayz, I thought you would be dead by the time I got back.” said Zack’s voice.
I could not deny that he was very different from the way I remembered him. He was still funny, but now he had mutated into an almost black, cynical humor that I didn’t remember him possessing before. Maybe I had idealized him, because love blinds us, but never like this, I clung to the idea that the way he was even better, even if it was a lie, I kept telling myself to keep from falling into disappointment.
