Chapter 274. Immobility

The approaching footsteps put me on alert. Maybe they had come back after realizing I had survived. Although in my state, what I was experiencing could hardly be called survival. It was total immobility that only allowed me to move a few millimeters, when hope flooded my body only to drown it again. My eyes remained wet all the time, as if the tears would never stop flowing.
“There’s a woman here,” a young man’s voice said.
“My dad said he rented the barn to some guys, but he didn’t mention they’d be leaving anyone here. Get up,” he ordered.
He approached me and I managed to distinguish, with my cloudy vision, a faint silhouette. It was much better than nothing, which meant that my sight wasn’t completely gone. The blindness wasn’t total. However, I couldn’t pay attention to him. I had no control over my body and I was forced to try. But the paralysis was intact. I could only plead with my eyes.
