That part of the castle was more gloomy than the rest. Cethium wasn’t crying, he still looked asleep. My little one, I brought my head close to his so he could feel his mother was by his side. I was with Jacob and Larry on my side, guarding me and my son. Carmen had stayed to take care of Nico, with the rest of the troops who were in charge of protecting us.
My son wasn’t restless, he was in an eternal calm. He clung to me, his mother, while tangling his fingers in my hair. He was starting to wake up slowly.
Entering that place was a huge shock for me.
The woman was lying on a cot. Her hair was whitish mixed with its original color, dull and brittle, even though she was very young. Her eyes had bloodshot crusts. Her body, immobile. She was almost skin and bones, thin and pale. Her husband was by her side, holding her fragile and delicate hand so that her grief wouldn’t escape.
