“In this place we will be isolated for a while, it is one of my prides.” He laughed, he always seemed to laugh.

I wondered if he was actually laughing, or if it was just his strange snout that made me think so. His fangs always gleamed in a mocking grin. And his strange eyes could make anyone uncomfortable who dared to stare at him.

I took Lucero’s hand, she pulled away from me. We were all there, standing motionless, watching as the creature searched for something on the wall of this dilapidated loft. The imposing grand figure of the castle I had once come to seemed to crumble. Things were changing abruptly and I was having a hard time adapting. I felt fragile.

I looked at Chris. If there was anyone who adapted easily to change, it was him. Even so, he was observing everything around him with his face entirely dumbfounded. Everyone was pale.
