As I gazed upon that sky, something began to change within me. A soothing, calming sensation washed over me. My breath slowed, despite the terrible nerves that were coursing through my veins.

They were slipping away from me.

I felt hypnotized. I closed my eyes, following my son’s words. I was the first to close them.
