Chapter 51. Confession
DOVE
The girl was entirely desolate, with agitated breathing; she had suffered a noticeable attack.
“Are you okay?” I felt a little silly asking that, but I didn’t know what else to say; the shock of seeing her arms hurt made me confused.
“Your Majesty… I’m so sorry…” she started to say, with tears choking in her throat; I could see that she was talking about the matter with Josefina. I shook my head so she would know that I had no grudge against her; I was not a monster, for now, I knew how to separate things.
“Calm down,” I said as I sat down beside her so she could rest a bit. The trembling wouldn’t stop; it was very intense, getting stronger every time.
“I can’t…” Carmen spoke in broken phrases and pointed to the narrow wardrobe at the back. “He was there…”
This left me bewildered; I couldn’t imagine such a thing; it must be a small man to fit there or very thin.
I went there and saw something obvious, the paper with that damned symbol
