DOVE
I felt so tired, listening to Carmen’s voice in my sleep as she tried unsuccessfully to get me to stand up. I had been lying on my back so as not to crush my baby; it had been one of my last conscious acts.
“Wake up, Dove, please…” Carmen said, shaking me, making me even dizzier.
“Stop, you’re hurting me,” I said, pleading, not wanting to continue feeling that shaking. She was desperate, not listening to me, but the opposite, making me sit up and talk to me so that I wouldn’t lose my lucidity.
At first, it annoyed me a lot, so much that I wanted to insult her or something to make her stop. The sedative in my body was yearning for me to fall asleep, and I was listening to it. I saw, with blurred vision, my crown on the ground; I had dropped it when I threw myself down, looking for that rest. The killer was there, about to be released. Carmen stood in the way of the traitor guard who was about to open the lock.
