Chapter 52

Samantha’s POV

My head ached, where was I? I opened my eyes and looked around, the smell of herbs and other concoctions greeted me. I had been here allot of times. It was the infirmary, I looked at my side to see Liam still unconscious. He really did take a fatal punch for low ranking pack members.

“Samantha? Can you hear me?” I heard Gabriel call out. I hadn’t even realized that he was by my side. I raised my body to sit up, Gabriel assisted me. “How are you feeling now?” he asked.

“I feel like I broke a hundred bones,” I groaned adjusting my sitting position.

“At least, you are alive,” Gabriel said relieved but not the way I wanted him to sound. He sounded more like I was a comrade than a friend, but what was I really? I feel like I’ve been awfully delusional lately. Somewhere in me, I want to keep telling myself that I have a place in his heart when I know the bitter truth.

“How’s Liam doing?” I tried my best to suppress my disappointment.
