Chapter 56
Gabriel’s POV
The argument I had with Cassandra clung to my mind, just as the thick fog clung tightly to the air that surrounded the abode. We’ve argued before, severally, but our last argument was unnerving. I could barely get it out of my mind. She’d made a habit of challenging my authority, now she was questioning my associations. Her petulant and fiery nature was cute at first, but, now, it’s becoming annoying, and my annoyance was clearly written on my face as I paced the room. My annoyance, welded slowly with my nervousness, and prompted me to take a quick walk outside.
A human would have been shivering in the cold, windy morning, but all I felt was a slight chill. My wolf genes made me impervious to the cold, but it didn’t help with my lack of vision. The fog was too thick for anyone to see through, so I walked back inside, with anxiety building within me. I took the fog as an omen, a bad omen that could sweep me away if I didn’t act.
