Daniel’s POV

I wake up with the sun rising high in the sky. I shake off the sleep and stretch my muscles. As the beta of the pack, it is my duty to check our territory for any unusual movements, any lone wolves or strangers trying to invade our land. Ever since Gabriel made me stay at the gate and observe the territory it has been more of my routine, I hardly see anyone else apart from the gatekeeper that was still behind. He monitored the surroundings while I checked the territory, just like I was about to do now.

I take a deep breath and let the scent of the forest fill my lungs. It’s a soothing aroma, a feeling of belonging to something much bigger than yourself.

As I start to walk through the woods, I am alert and careful, listening to the sound of the animals and keeping an eye on the surroundings. It’s always exciting to be out here, to be in charge of something as mighty as a pack.
