Chapter 8. A New Home

Mr. Rutherford led Lucas and Alexander to their cubicles, which were next to each other. They completed the work that he assigned to them on time. After submitting the work, they glanced at each other, contemplating on leaving for the day when Lucas’s dad summoned them.

They reached his office and went inside. “What happened to you, Alexander?” asked Lucas’s dad with concern.

“I fell from my motorcycle, uncle Eric.”

“Be more careful in the future.”

“Yes, I will, uncle Eric.” Alexander felt relieved that he didn’t pursue the topic further.

“Lucas, take Alexander to the apartment where I want him to stay. You can help him shift tonight.”

“Can I stay with him tonight? Please, dad?”
