Chapter 54. Destination China

“So if I stand here,” Lilith said while pointing to an X on Zhang’s make-shift map, “and burn the wormwood, we should be able to set up a barrier of protection against this spell they want to cast.”

“Yes, only remember—you must call it by the Chinese name in the working. It’s called Japanese Mugwort in China. We must be precise about this.”

“So we don’t piss off the gods, especially the Jade-Emperor. Yes, yes, I get it.”

“I merely want to make sure you understand the severity of this. All magic is riding on this singular spell. I had hoped Dracula would be the one performing it since he’d have the Vlad Clan’s backing.”

“No, I understand—more than you know. And maybe with a little push from Mazu, we can have the Vlads and my children unite to stop Keme.”

“Yes! That would make the spell more powerful. And Lilith?”

“I wouldn’t think of vanquishing Keme, Zhang. I’m in enough trouble with Jade-Emperor and don’t need that looming over my head, either.”
