The Festival of Renewal was only a few days away, and Auraya hadn’t wasted a single moment when it came to choosing her attire. Even though she held a lofty station on the Radiant Circle and wielded considerable authority among its members, she was still very much a young woman with a fondness for the small delights of life. I suspect she genuinely enjoys these excursions as much as any spirited girl preparing for a grand celebration.
Aurion’s market district itself had undergone a remarkable transformation since my last visit. Gone were the dimly lit stalls with goods hidden behind heavy curtains. In their place stood neat rows of shops with gleaming glass displays; garments, jewelry, and trinkets lay exposed for passersby to admire. The effect was almost magical, as sunlight filtered through crystal panes to illuminate silks, velvets, and patterned linens. It felt as though the entire city had opened its heart to welcome festival crowds.
