Chapter 2
I awoke in the hospital, with beeping machines and doctors chattering away. The anaesthetic was still coursing through my veins and joining the journey was a big drip bag of mor**ine. I won’t say that I wasn’t enjoying the head-floaty feeling, but I wanted to be more clear-headed and listen to what the doctors were saying to my parents. I tried to lift my head but it felt so heavy like it was strapped down even though knew it wasn’t. As much as I tried, I couldn’t stay awake and fell back asleep. When I finally did wake up again, someone had closed the drapes and dimmed the lights in my room. I turned to the side and saw my mom asleep in the chair beside my bed. She looked so peaceful I didn’t have the heart to wake her. The mo**hine had worn off and my head was clear now, but I needed to speak to my father urgently. I groaned when I tried to sit up, but with another push with my arms and I was sitting upright.
“Jesus, Jesse, what are you doing?” My mom yelled at me while rush
