Chapter 23. Nothing

The hostel where Giovanna rented a room didn't have a garage, so she had to leave her car on the street. That was another mistake. The next day, her car was stolen. She went to the police station and filed a police report, but saw in the eyes of the deputy that it was very unlikely that they would find the car.

According to him, car thefts in that region were common, and only twenty per cent of the time did they get the car back, but they were no longer any use on those occasions, as they were looted. Caio started complaining that he wanted to go to the playground, and Giovanna checked the money in his wallet.

Only a few dollars remained in her wallet after she had paid off her debts, but she needed them to take a taxi to work. But her conscience ached when she realised that she couldn't leave Caio locked in his room, in that dirty environment, with d**g addicts in the corridors and incessant moaning coming from the next room, so she ended up taking a bus and taking Ca
