Chapter 78. The Stranger

Day broke as soon as Giovanna entered her neighborhood. Now she had little time to shower and rest before sorting out her card and everything else she had to worry about, like her father's business.

She arrived in front of the building where her apartment was. She entered without being noticed by the doorman. She thought it best. She never responded to his greetings, thinking he was abusive for daring to talk to her. She got into the elevator and made her way up to the penthouse. She put her hand on the doorknob, but the door was locked. She grabbed her keys from her backpack, but they didn't even click into the lock. Giovanna could hear sounds coming from inside and slammed the door hard. She knocked and shouted and rang the bell many times. Until someone opened the door with a frightened look on their face and left the security chain on the door.
