Chapter 32
The office did not look any different from when Martin had occupied it, and that fact alone was pretty disturbing. Smith literally had to inhale deeply and exhale as he stepped into the space and took an eased stance, hands folded at the wrists in front of him, legs slightly apart, and chest a little outward.
The swivel chair was to the side, and the man, a grey, old, and frail-looking figure, was fumbling through the cabinet by the side, mumbling incoherently and working almost mechanically with his fingers.
He no doubt sensed their presence because he sat a little straighter in his chair, but he did not acknowledge them after asking them in. Maybe he had the intention of finding whatever it was he was looking for before talking to them or even acknowledging their existence, or maybe he was just being plain rude. Either way, Teddy did not like it, and the scowl on his handsome face said as much.
