Chapter 40
Before the hour was gone, Teddy had arrived and was still sulking in the corner, a small frown on his face. Smith knew the reason for that frown. It was his sister again, and as usual, they were at loggerheads about everything and nothing.
“The case is still next week?” Smith asked, turning to Teddy.
“I guess so,” he replied, shrugged a little, and went back to his sweetened coffee.
“I’m sure you will be fine,” Smith reassured.
“Like hell I will be, it’s not like a woman is trying to accuse me of something I did not do,” he muttered sarcastically and slammed his fist on the desk.
“Met Kurt today?” he asked, in a hurry to change the divorce topic.
“Chief Kurt. And no, I guess he hasn’t arrived yet,” he replied.
“Asshole,” Teddy said a little too loudly and went back to flipping through his papers.
