“She won’t mind us—two officers, Chief Martin’s junior officers, who have not as much as visited her once since his untimely death—letting ourselves into her home? Wow, I’m sure you’re correct there,” Smith replied sarcastically.
“When you put it that way, it sounds really sad and stupid,” Teddy muttered.
“It is sad and stupid. You, me, everything is sad and stupid about this. I wish I had the balls to do this early. God knows waiting hasn’t made it any less intense,” Smith stated, feeling disappointed.
“Yeah, I agree. I did say we come here the next day, yeah? I never did think sending the Detectives was a great idea,” Teddy reminded him.
“Easy for you to say. It’s not you whom Martin brought home most weekends and made you eat Suzie’s homemade muffins. Hell, I’m sure you’ve only been here twice or so,” Smith snapped.
“Not my fault you were the Golden boy. You chose to be,” Teddy replied.
