There was a loud bang just outside his window. It was loud enough to drag him out of his nightmare and get his sweaty, naked ass out of bed, bending down to get his gun from the top drawer. He was at the window, peeking out into the night in no time, his eyes still heavy with sleep.
It was a reflex action, and the moment he realized that a group of teenage boys had lit up fireworks next to the trashcan and were laughing and pointing to the window, Smith sighed heavily and dropped the Venetian blind.
