Chapter 95. He Has to Die
She was the one who gave Caius the flash drive. We knew she was involved with the wolf experiments and had the King’s ear.
“Oh, Doc, don’t worry about me. My vital signs don’t need to be checked again. I want to go home because I’m tired. Both of us agree that there is nothing wrong with me. I can see the future in front of me.” Dexter spoke up.
“I know Dex is tired. I promise, just a little longer.” Carm gave him a big hug, and while he was in her arms, the boy sighed. I didn’t like that they seemed to be so close.
The boy took my hand and led me outside, where he showed me a big checkerboard painted on the ground. We played a game on the big board that Kalix had painted for them outside in the gardens for an hour.
I showed the boy a few tricks and warned him about a few things. I knew how my son played his favorite game, and it made me happy to think that this little boy could beat him. My son can get upset when he loses.
