Chapter 133. Welcome Home Kiss
It took Carlos a moment to realize what he was thinking. Such a positive picture he’d painted, but that was only likely and only true if Fiona had ever said a word of truth to him. For all he knew, Mrs. McCarthy was a very caring and loving woman at home, and Fiona only had negative feelings concerning the woman because she thought like her father.
Fiona had said it herself that she and her father got along well and that she was unable to connect with her mother or even be on the same side as the woman. If this story that he could now see was true, then the only person who needed rescuing from Clyde McCarthy was his wife. Fiona could suffer with her father if she chose to support him stubbornly.
“That is a splendid idea,” Fiona said from where she sat at the table. “If his wife is such a great woman and one of the reasons why McCarthy looks good in public, then imagine how people would feel when they found out that Clyde McCarthy was cheating on the state’s sweetheart.”
