Chapter 141. Trust Me, Carlos

Carlos was hoping to draw the feeling out for as long as possible, so he stayed in bed much longer than he was supposed to. He kept his arm over Fiona and breathed in. He had a lot to worry about, but at this moment, he was going to pretend all was well with the world. Unfortunately, the world refused to play along with his lie. All was not well with it, and it made sure to make that known. Carlos’ phone went off on the nightstand where it was plugged in.

Carlos had to take the call if he wanted silence, so he picked up the phone and saw the name Dahlia.

“Shit,” he swore, sitting up and disconnecting the phone. “Hello?” he said into the phone as soon as he had successfully answered the call.

“Hello my ass,” was the first thing Carlos heard screamed through the phone. “Why the fuck am I just hearing that McCarthy had some video evidence on you, and why did I have to hear it from someone else?”

“Good morning, Dahlia,” he said. “How was your trip?”
