Fiona wondered if fate would have let her meet the Leopard Seal if she were not a McCarthy. She was not sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing. She loved him and the way he loved when he allowed himself to. She loved those moments when he did not look like he was carrying the weight of the world or as if the earth would crumble if he let the real him show.

He guarded his feelings most of the time, with doors upon doors, and it made her sad just to look at him.
