Chapter 162. No Place Like Home
She strolled through her mom’s favorite living room, touching all the things that haven’t changed and feeling nostalgic.
Soon enough her eyes caught a brown envelop resting on a coffee table. It looked ominous and begged for her attention. She glanced around the room and reached for it.
The envelop Fiona picked up wasn’t sealed. It was large enough to and from the thickness of it in her hands. She could tell it held a few documents. She was about to slip the sheave of papers out when she heard the tell-tale click of her mother’s stilettos.
She muttered a quiet ‘oh shit’ and scrambled to hide. The huge bookshelf that she usually hid next to sometimes when she was a kid to watch her mother was right there off to the side and she instinctively ran towards it. It was only after she had squatted beside it that she realized that the spot she usually squatted beside as an eight year old trying to spend some time in her mother’s presence might not do a great job of hiding
