Chapter 28. Midnight Discussions
Carlos spent the next few nights doing the drill over and over again. Each subsequent trial had something going wrong. The first one had a situation where the door just beyond his entry point was locked—a mistake that absolutely could not happen on that day but was simulated just in case. One of the fake guards caught him at the window and quickly drew a gun.
On instinct, Carlos pulled his gun and pulled the trigger. The guns they were all given for the exercise were paintball guns, and the fake guards were told to go down if and only if Carlos’ paintball shot hit a vital spot. They were also encouraged to make as much noise as possible and make Carlos’ task as difficult as possible. Every last bullet he shot hit a vital point.
