No Named got back to him soon enough with details about Foster’s lost painting of immense sentimental value.
Foster’s friend had died over thirty years ago and had truly given him a painting of a small house with a red tile roof, perched on a cliff by the ocean. Angry waves crashed against the rocks below the cliff, spitting sea foam, but up where the house was, it was peaceful. Birds in the air, clothes billowing on the line, and smoke rising from the chimney.
The artist was unknown and unimportant, but Foster loved the painting, and so did many of his guests who came around to visit and saw it. He boasted a lot about it, and like he said, someone bought it off him without giving him the option to refuse. In other words, he was basically threatened into selling this painting that was important to him.
