Chapter 60. A Sealed Deal
Lucas attempted to hold his gaze for a few seconds, then looked away, then returned his gaze with a look similar to defiance.
“How’s that wrong?” he complained. “I wanted to get buyers. Your name didn’t cause a ripple at all; most people just thought you were a rich man who had money to throw and didn’t care one bit about what you threw your money at.”
“I’ll bet,” Carlos smiled. “That’s probably because you were using the wrong name. If you had used a particular name, you had have gotten way more people to bid on your commodity than you did,” Carlos let out a small chuckle and added, “and probably way more people attempting to kill you for the painting.”
Lucas did not want to ask; Carlos could tell, but curiosity got the better of him. “What name?”
Carlos’ smile stretched devilishly. “The Leopard Seal.”
Carlos was sure every muscle in Lucas’ body drew taut. He could see the man draw up and freeze like a rabbit hearing a noise in a quiet meadow and poise
