Chapter 98. Life
The first meeting he had with Dahlia started off weird enough. She was late, she was skittish, and she’d been brought to the meeting by Stones. Dahlia being with Stones at any given point in time was not in any way strange, but her being late was extremely unusual, and her roving gaze was so out of character that it made him anxious.
She had been weird lately—often tired, at times lazy, and ultimately in a bad state. He couldn’t help but worry that she might have done something terrible or discovered something she was not supposed to. He immediately thought of Jasmine and decided that he was going to protect Dahlia however he could, whether or not she had done something wrong.
He was surprised to find she had not actually done anything wrong. He’d insisted that she tell him what was going on and decided not to take no for an answer. Stones had been the one to cave, and Carlos’ jaw dropped when he heard the response he’d asked for.
