Chapter 2. Run!

He never loved her, nor did he ever care about her or her mother. Lola meant nothing to her father; she always knew she was just a tool for him. He never looked at her as a daughter. And she was done with that! He always said that a successor to a vampire hunter family should be cold and unemotional, but selling his daughter to that dog was cruel and filthy!

Lola’s heart was pounding as she slipped out of the house in the dead of night. She had made up her mind to run away and start a new life. She knew it would be difficult, but she couldn’t stay in the same house with her unfaithful fiancé and her step-sister, and her father’s cruel words still echoed in her mind.

She tiptoed through the garden and towards the gate, hoping to make her escape undetected. But as she reached the gate, she heard a noise behind her. She turned to see two guards of her father running towards her.

“Stop!” one of them yelled. “Where do you think you’re going?”

Lola’s heart sank. She had been caught.

She turned and ran as fast as she could, but the guards were close behind her. She darted through the garden, her heart racing, but she knew it was only a matter of time before they caught up to her.

She could hear their footsteps pounding on the ground behind her, and she pushed herself to run faster. But her pursuers were gaining ground, and she knew she was in trouble.

As she reached the end of the garden, Lola saw a high fence in front of her. It was her only chance. She sprinted towards it and leaped up, grabbing hold of the top of the fence and pulling herself up.

The guards were almost upon her, but Lola managed to scramble over the fence and drop down on the other side. She stumbled and fell, but she quickly got up and ran into the darkness, hoping to lose her pursuers.

She could hear the guards shouting and running after her, but she was determined to keep going. She had to escape, no matter what.

As she ran through the woods, Lola could hear the guards getting closer. She was tired and scared, but she kept pushing herself forward, her heart pounding in her chest.

Suddenly, she stumbled on a tree root and fell to the ground. She tried to get up, but her ankle throbbed with pain, and she knew she couldn’t run any further.

The guards were almost upon her now. Lola crawled behind a tree and tried to hide, but she knew it was no use. She closed her eyes, waiting for the guards to catch her.

As one of the men lunged at her, grabbing her from behind, Lola spun around, using her training to break his hold and deliver a swift punch to his face. He stumbled backward, surprised by her strength.

As a vero vampire hunter, Lola had always been a force to be reckoned with. Her talent for martial arts had been apparent since she was a child, and she had spent countless hours training and honing her skills. As a young woman, she had already become a well-known competitor in martial arts tournaments.

The other men hesitated for a moment, sizing up their opponent. Lola knew she had to act fast. She took a deep breath and readied herself for the fight of her life. The men attacked, but Lola was quick to dodge their blows and deliver powerful kicks and punches of her own.

The sound of bones cracking echoed through the night as Lola landed hit after hit.

As the last man fell to the ground, Lola stood panting, her heart pounding in her chest. The men fled into the night, leaving Lola standing victorious. She knew that she would never back down in the face of danger and that her hunter skills would always be there to protect her.

“Look for her everywhere!” There was no time for Lola to celebrate. Another group of guards was coming after the call of the two she just defeated.

“Shit,” she cursed as she got back to run, but her foot was in too much pain.

“Curse you! You can’t let me down now!” Lola was very nervous: no matter how much she ignored the pain, her foot was an obstacle. It was clear that she couldn’t keep running all night.

Lola’s heart was racing as she reached the edge of the cliff. She could hear the sound of her pursuers closing in on her, their footsteps pounding the ground behind her. She had no other option but to jump.

With a deep breath, Lola launched herself off the edge, her arms flailing wildly as she hurtled through the air. For a split second, she felt weightless, as if she was suspended in time. Then, suddenly, the ground disappeared beneath her, and she was falling, plummeting toward the icy water below.

The wind whipped past her face, tearing at her hair and clothes as she hurtled towards the river. Lola could hear the rush of the water below, and she knew that if she didn’t hit the water just right, it could be the end for her. Her heart was pounding so hard she thought it might burst out of her chest.

At the last moment, Lola twisted her body, trying to adjust her angle and soften the impact. She hit the water with a bone-jarring thud, her body plunging beneath the surface. The shock of the cold water was like a thousand needles stabbing her skin, and she felt her breath leave her in a rush.

For a moment, the girl was disoriented, struggling to regain her bearings as she fought to keep her head above water. She could hear her pursuers shouting from the top of the cliff, and she knew that she had to keep moving if she wanted to survive.

With every ounce of strength she had, Lola began to swim, cutting through the water with a desperate urgency. She could feel her muscles burning with the effort, but she refused to give up. She had to keep going, had to keep pushing forward no matter what. The fear and uncertainty that had consumed her just moments ago were replaced by a fierce determination to survive, no matter what it took.

But unfortunately for her, her body was far too weak to match her desire to survive…
