Chapter 2. Melanie Harper

"Maybe they miss us too much," Frank said as he hurried to get out. "Kids!"

Louis and Emily jumped into their father’s arms. Their laughter grew louder as Frank carried them both.

“Daddy, how was your honeymoon? Was it going smoothly?”

"Has Daddy implanted our baby sister in Mommy's stomach?"

Chuckling, Frank kissed the twins' cheek. His heart was tickled by their questions. However, just as he was about to answer, his eyes accidentally caught Melanie's presence. In an instant, his smile disappeared.

The twins' cheerfulness no longer affected him. Witnessing it, Kara, who had just gotten out of the limousine, immediately touched his shoulder. “What's wrong, Frank?”

Louis and Emily stopped laughing. They checked their father's face then followed his gaze. The noble-style woman had just stopped two steps away from them.

“Hello, Frank.” Her expression was very different from before. Her eyebrows lowered and her eyes filled with tears.
