Chapter 42
Christian didn't know what to say to calm Williams down. He couldn't stop talking about the settlement officer who made him come in person to collect the settlement money. Williams was sick and tired of people behaving poorly just because they had a little power. This trip wasn’t necessary. The officer didn’t even say anything to him, just handed over the money and left. Williams was furious and had almost grabbed the man by the neck before Christian intervened. He didn’t want Williams doing something he would regret, and this was one of those moments. They had gotten the settlement money; they just needed to leave with their dignity intact. Christian tried to reason with him, telling him it wasn’t worth his time or effort. He reminded Williams not to jeopardize everything he had going for him because of one angry man.
Christian wasn’t sure his words were sinking in, but it made a difference when Williams turned and started moving toward his car. It would be best if he stopped
