Chapter 14. Noble

I shook my head.

If my parents knew that he was here, he might be exiled from the mansion, given that they already don’t like him from the start.

It’s not like River couldn’t find any place to stay while he’s here in the States. I’m certain that he could afford a luxurious suite, or even another mansion if that’s what he liked.

However, given that he went here, he must have his personal reason. I can’t hinder the plans he had here. That could be the only way for me to repay his kindness.

“I’m fine. Believe me,” I told him, looking River in the eye. “You should go, and don’t stay outside my room. Go to your room and rest.”

“But—”

“If you do that, you’re also protecting me,” I added before River could even finish his sentence. “Because if you leave now, they won’t scold me.”

River wanted to argue at first. I could see it in his eyes, but when he internalized my words, realizing that what he wanted to do would directly affect me, he nodded.
