Chapter 85. Standing on Business

Maddie wasn’t happy, and it was clear. I could see it on her face that she was really hurt by my decision. But at the same time, what was I supposed to do?

Was I supposed to leave Giveon all because she had not gotten over him yet? How was that going to be fair to me or him?

“I am so sorry, Maddie,” I said to her when I saw that tears were now leaking from her eyes. I felt really bad, my heart felt like there was a knife in it. 

She scoffed and stopped me when I tried to walk over to her to try to comfort her. “Don’t come near me.” Her voice was shaky. “I’m dead serious, don’t you come near me.”

I stopped and nodded, feeling so bad. But I knew within myself that I had made the right decision. “I’m sorry,” I said in a breathy way before making my way past her and leaving the room.

I went back to my room and closed the door. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, even though I still felt guilty for some reason.
