Chapter 119. The De Romano Mansion

Calla’s eyes widened, her jaw dropping open as the line of black cars eased through the tall wrought-iron gates and into a long, winding driveway. It stretched far ahead of them, lined with tall trees that cast heavy shadows over the road, their branches blocking out most of the remaining light and making the place feel old and important.

At the end of the drive, a large fountain came into view, softly lit from below, water spilling gently over carved stone. At the center stood a statue, worn by time, its details old but still powerful, like it had been standing there for centuries, watching everything that came and went.

The house—no, the mansion ahead was huge. It rose out of the darkness, massive, with two long wings stretching from its middle, built of aged stone that bore the weight of history.
